Fonseca No. 1 – Origin & Format

Hand-rolled in Cuba using tobaccos from the Vuelta Abajo region, the No. 1 is produced in the Cazadores factory vitola: 162 mm in length with a ring gauge of 43. In keeping with the brand’s tradition, each cigar is wrapped in fine tissue paper – a classic detail that exudes tradition and provides additional protection for the cigar. Presented in wooden boxes of 25 and offering excellent value for money, this size is the largest in the regular Fonseca range and a reliable companion for enjoyable, unhurried moments.

Character & Flavours

Aromatically, the Fonseca No. 1 is mild to medium-mild with a creamy, silky texture. Cedarwood and subtle spice form the base; these are joined by notes of hay and honey, as well as hints of roasted almonds. In the mid-palate, light coffee and a subtle, natural sweetness come to the fore; the finish may reveal a hint of cocoa and – depending on the batch – a gentle peppery note. The profile remains consistently pleasant, balanced and free from any overpowering sharpness – perfect with espresso, cappuccino or a mild, barrel-aged rum.

Workmanship, smoking time & occasion

The neat rolling ensures a reliable draw, a smooth, even burn and a stable, light-grey ash. Thanks to its length, the flavours unfold in distinct phases – from a woody-sweet opening to a gently spicy finish. In practice, the smoking time – depending on the pace of the draw – is around 50 to 70 minutes. Whether as a soothing afternoon companion or a relaxed evening smoke: the No. 1 impresses with its balance, style and versatility.
