TheA.J. Fernandez El Pulpo cigarsare the result of a meticulous collaboration between Artesano Del Tobacco and the renowned cigar manufacturer A.J. Fernandez. The project began in 2016 with the aim of creating a cigar that would harmoniously adapt to every smoker’s palate, much like an octopus envelops its surroundings. After years of development and refinement, El Pulpo was launched in 2023 and quickly gained recognition in the cigar world.

A masterpiece of tobacco blending

El Pulpo is characterised by an exquisite blend of Nicaraguan tobaccos, used for both the binder and the filler, which are sourced from A.J. Fernandez’s own farms. The wrapper is a carefully aged Mexican San Andrés Maduro, which lends the blend a special depth and complexity. This combination results in a full-bodied smoking experience with multi-layered flavours of coffee, dark chocolate, nuts and a hint of citrus.

Recognition and Formats

This limited edition is a pure Nicaraguan puro, made exclusively from the finest tobaccos sourced from Plasencia’s own plantations. The carefully selected Nicaraguan Habano wrapper, combined with a perfectly balanced filler and a high-quality binder, promises a medium-bodied to full-bodied smoking experience of the highest quality.

A multi-layered pleasure with an exquisite aroma

The outstanding quality of El Pulpo was recognised by Cigar Aficionado, with the Belicoso Grande variant – measuring 5 3/4 inches in length and with a ring gauge of 58 – taking tenth place in the list of the Top 25 Cigars of 2023. In addition to the Belicoso Grande, El Pulpo is available in other sizes, including the Robusto Grande (5 x 56), the Toro Grande (6 x 56) and the recently launched Lancero variant known as ‘The Eel’ (7 x 38). Each of these vitolas offers a unique smoking experience that reflects the meticulous craftsmanship and commitment to quality that go into the production of every El Pulpo cigar.
