Passive humidification systems
Passive humidifiers release moisture via natural evaporation. In contrast to the past, acrylic polymer crystals are now used instead of a sponge. This absorbs the water like a sponge and releases it in a controlled manner. The release stops automatically at approx. 70% relative humidity. It is important with these humidifiers that distilled water is used. Otherwise, the fine pores of the crystals become blocked and the humidification performance decreases.
For a hygienic climate, we recommend the use of special humidifying liquids for humidor humidifiers.
