Arturo Fuente Opus X Angel’s Share Reserva d’Château

The Opus X cigars from Arturo Fuente are among the most sought-after rarities in the world and only find their way to Europe in small quantities and even fewer to Switzerland. All cigars in the line are made from 100% Dominican tobaccos, which are grown on the Chateau de la Fuente plantation.

The idea for this Angels' Share line came after a major fire in 2012, when tobacco from the late 1940s and 1950s was in storage. The tobacco was originally intended for the 100th anniversary. However, most of it fell victim to the flames. This was a low point for the Fuente family and also the birth of the Angel's Share line. The tobacco was shared with the Angels, who enjoyed the tantalising aroma of the tobacco burning in the barns, but in return gave the Fuente family their blessing for future successful ventures.

The concept of Angel's Share in winemaking

The term "angel's share" is used in the winemaking process. Winemakers often use oak barrels to store their wine during the ageing process. As the wine ages over time, some of it evaporates from the barrel. The evaporated wine is called the angel's share, alluding to the belief that the guardian angels who watch over the wine taste it and give their blessing.
