CAO
DESCRIPTION
CAO Pilón is a modern Nicaraguan cigar with an old-school secret: the eponymous ‘Pilón’ fermentation process. Instead of simply stacking the tobacco, the leaves are traditionally bundled into ‘hands’ and layered in circular piles – a slow, controlled ageing process that brings out the aroma and colour with particular intensity. The result is a balanced, medium-strength cigar with great depth: spicy, toasty and yet pleasantly rounded – perfect for connoisseurs who appreciate character without it being too heavy.
Pilón fermentation: more depth, more elegance
CAO deliberately employs a fermentation method here that dates back to 19th-century Cuba. Thanks to the careful layering, the tobacco ferments more slowly and evenly – and this is precisely what you notice as you smoke it: fewer ‘sharp’ peaks, but greater harmony and a clearer flavour profile. The flavour often reveals notes of cedarwood, roasted nuts, cocoa and a subtle spiciness with a slightly peppery finish. The smoke is creamy and pleasantly full-bodied, without being overpowering.
Blend: Ecuadorian Habano meets Nicaraguan power
The blend uses a silky Ecuadorian Habano wrapper, combined with a Nicaraguan binder. The filler comprises Nicaraguan tobaccos (including those from Estelí and Ometepe), which provide the typical Nicaraguan character: earthy, spicy, slightly mineral and consistently aromatic. Overall, the strength remains in the medium range – ideal as a reliable ‘after-work’ cigar.
Robusto or Toro: your size, your moment
The Robusto is the concentrated all-rounder: classically proportioned, with an immediate and aromatic profile, and perfect if you want plenty of flavour in a manageable amount of time. The Toro offers significantly more volume and smoking time – here the flavours come across as broader, often even creamier, and the roasted notes can develop particularly beautifully. Both formats are ideal with espresso, dark chocolate or a mild rum.

Schlechtes Los

Immer wieder gerne
