Gilbert de Montsalvat Anniversary Salomones

Following the success of the limited-edition Salomones released to mark the 20th anniversary of The Royal Cigar Company, the Gilbert de Montsalvat Anniversary in the Salomones format is now available on a regular basis from specialist retailers.

The author Thomas Brunnschweiler created the character of Gilbert de Montsalvat in his 1999 story ‘The Pope of Geneva’. When Raymondo Bernasconi, owner of ‘The Royal Cigar Company’, read the story one dreary Sunday, he was initially rather depressed. The hero of the story could neither smell nor taste anything. But perhaps that was precisely the message: trust your own judgement, don’t listen to cigar gurus!

The birth of Gilbert de Montsalvat cigars

On 1 April 2008, the Gilbert de Montsalvat brand was officially launched. The stories by and about Gilbert are always told with a touch of irony, which sets them apart from the promotional material of other brands.
The Gilbert Anniversary cigar is part of the regular range and is identical to the 10 Years Anniversary edition, which was available in limited-edition boxes to mark the 10th anniversary of Gilbert de Montsalvat.

Roasted aromas with bitter almonds

This cigar is dominated by intense roasted aromas paired with nuances of slightly sweet bitter almonds. Subtle cocoa notes and hints of dried fruit underline the harmonious blend of the Gilbert Anniversary.
