La Capitana
DESCRIPTION
La Capitana (2025 reissue) brings a breath of fresh air to the humidor: a modern, mild-to-medium-bodied blend with a creamy texture, elegant appearance and reliable construction. Produced in Estelí, Nicaragua, and presented in the striking turquoise box of 20, La Capitana combines stylish presentation with a well-rounded, harmonious flavour profile – ideal for relaxed moments of enjoyment, from the end of the working day to a weekend ritual.
Origin & Concept
La Capitana represents a confident, accessible interpretation of Nicaraguan craftsmanship. The 2025 blend features an Ecuador Connecticut-seed wrapper, a Nicaraguan binder and fillers from Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic. The result is a smooth, clearly structured profile with excellent balance – perfect for beginners, but equally appealing to experienced aficionados seeking an elegant ‘everyday cigar’ with a reliable draw. Visually, the La Capitana is characterised by a turquoise-and-gold main band and the cartographically designed map sleeve on the body.
Sizes & Smoking Time
The new edition is available in popular vitolas that beautifully showcase the creamy profile: Robusto 5" × 50 (approx. 40–50 mins), Lonsdale 6" × 43 (approx. 45 mins), Toro 6" × 50 (approx. 60 mins) and Churchill 7" × 48 (approx. 70–80 mins). Every La Capitana is rolled entirely by hand and supplied in boxes of 20. The combination of moderate strength and a creamy smoke makes it a versatile companion – from espresso to light rum or an Old Fashioned with citrus zest.
Flavours & Style
On the smoke, the La Capitana reveals a pleasant, finely balanced progression: initially wood and light spices, followed by roasted almonds, orange zest and a gentle, vanilla-toasted sweetness on the finish. The texture remains silky and creamy, the smoke volume is pleasant, and the strength ranges from mild to medium. Thanks to its balanced profile, La Capitana is ideal as a ‘daily smoke’ whilst offering enough nuances to delight even the most discerning palates.
