Matilde Serena Maduro Robusto

The Matilde Serena Maduro is a slightly stronger and darker version of the original Matilde Serena. The new Maduro range is characterised by an oily Mexican Maduro wrapper, a Dominican Criollo ‘98 binder and a blend of tobacco from Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic. Once lit, the Serena Maduro offers complex and balanced flavours that engage the taste buds on the palate.

A pleasant sweetness is ever-present throughout the smoking experience and is accompanied by rich flavours ranging from mocha coffee to dried fruit and toast. Experienced aficionados will also detect notes reminiscent of earth, tobacco barns and leather. The Matilde Serena Maduro is thus a more flavour-intensive evolution of the Serena range, in which the soul of the milder Serena is still very much present.

One of the oldest cigar brands in the Dominican Republic

Matilde was founded in 1876 in Santiago de los Caballeros and was one of the first tobacco companies in the Dominican Republic. However, operations were suspended in the early 1900s. In 2014, the brand was revived by the Seijas family. Their first range, the Matilde Renacer, immediately made it into the top 25 best cigars of 2014 and was awarded 92 points.
