ThePlasencia Alma del Cielois an exclusive premium cigar that was unveiled at the PCA trade fair in 2025 and is the fourth edition in the renowned Alma series. The name ‘Alma del Cielo’ – meaning ‘Soul of the Sky’ – refers to the exceptional provenance of the tobacco used: It comes from the Finca San Julián in the Condega region of Nicaragua, situated at an altitude of over 1,000 metres. This altitude is unique in tobacco production and lends the cigar a distinctive aroma, characterised by cooler nights and intense sunshine.
A tobacco with a history
Finca San Julián holds special significance for the Plasencia family. Originally a cattle and coffee farm, it was sold in 1961. In 1998, Nestor Plasencia Sr. repurchased the land and gifted it to his wife, whose family had once lived there. Today, organically grown tobacco is cultivated there, nourished by a natural mountain stream. The combination of nutrient-rich soil, a cool climate and intense sunshine gives the tobacco a complex aroma that comes into its own in the Alma del Cielo.
Flavours and sizes
The Alma del Cielo is a medium-bodied cigar with a well-balanced range of flavours. Initially, sweet notes of marzipan and honey unfold, accompanied by hints of nougat. As the smoke develops, earthy undertones, cedar and a subtle spiciness come to the fore, rounded off by nuances of orange zest and a hint of ginger on the finish.
The Alma del Cielo is available in three sizes: ‘Celeste’ (Robusto, 124 mm x 52), ‘Boreal’ (Toro, 156 mm x 54) and ‘Amanecer’ (Hexágono, 152 mm x 60). All sizes are available in elegant boxes of 10 and are characterised by their high-quality craftsmanship and striking blue design.

Absolute Spitzenklasse!
Eine Zigarre der Spitzenklasse! Ein sehr guter Zug und eine sensationelle Aromatik prägen die Zigarre von Beginn weg bis zum Schluss. Die feinen Geschmacksnuancen offenbaren sich bei jedem Zug und machen diese Zigarre zu einem ganz besonderen Erlebnis.

Richtig gut!
Rchtig gut! Der Zug war perfekt, der Rauch schön cremig. Ich schmeckte Holz, Nüsse und etwas Süsse. Später kam leichter Pfeffer dazu. Kein Kratzen, sauberer Abbrand. Eine ausgewogene, mittelkräftige Zigarre. Echt angenehm zu rauchen – ideal für einen ruhigen Abend.

naja, mehr schlecht als recht
Als Plasencia-Fan.. bin ich hier sehr enttäuscht: sehr miserables Abbrandverhalten, Geschmacklich finde ich nichts ausser feine schärfe, anderst: nur gruusig und nervig. Nach 30 min war Ende.. mein Reinfall des Jahres. Für mich ist die Zigarre nicht die hälfte wert.

Soweit, so gut
Auch ich kann mich meinem Vorgängerbewerter anschliessen. Rein vom Preis und der Beschreibung hätte ich geschmacklich mehr erwartet. Nichts desto trotz habe ich diese Zigarre sehr genossen und kann die gute Verarbeitung, einen angenehmen Geschmack (auch wenn meiner Meinung nach nicht wie beschrieben) und das perfekte Abbrennverhalten hervorheben.

Einen Versuch wert!
Ich habe diese Zigarre kürzlich mal zur Probe bestellt. Nun... Geschmacklich gibt es in dieser Preisklasse Besseres, finde ich (ist natürlich subjektiv). Im ersten Drittel kommt sie sehr dezent daher. Das mittlere Drittel ist harmonisch, auch wenn ich die speziellen Noten (Marzipan und Honig, Nougat, Zedernholz und Orangenzeste etc.) nur schwer bzw. nicht erschmecken konnte. Im dritten Drittel wirkt das Teil eher etwa angestrengt. Positiv ist aber, dass diese Zigarre perfekt gerollt ist. Keinerlei Fusselzeugs, das Deckblatt hält, gleichmässiges Abbrennen und ein immer angenehmer Zug machen diese Zigarre zum 60 Minuten-Genuss (was bei ähnlich teuren/grossen Habanos nicht garantiert ist.). Diese Zigarre ist nicht wirklich günstig, aber auf jeden Fall einen Versuch wert!
