Secret Treasures
DESCRIPTION
The Secret Treasures Rican Barber Pole is an exceptional cigar for connoisseurs seeking not only a distinctive shape, but also character and history. Visually, it looks like a find from another era: two artfully twisted wrappers – a light Connecticut and a dark Habano leaf from Ecuador – give it the classic barber’s pole look and make it an instant eye-catcher. In the Toro format (6 x 52), it delivers a creamy smoke with a hint of sweetness, harmonious strength and a well-balanced aroma. This makes it a cigar for anyone who loves something special and wants to feel, upon lighting it, as though they have discovered a little treasure.
A treasure from an ageing humidor in Costa Rica
It’s easy to imagine this cigar waiting deep within an old ageing humidor in Costa Rica, just waiting to be rediscovered. Amidst aged tobaccos, wooden crates and the scent of earth, cedar and the aroma of ageing, it lay like a hidden treasure – not loud, not conspicuous, but quiet and patient, until its special moment arrived. It is precisely this idea that lies at the heart of the Secret Treasures series: cigars that are not simply produced, but are rediscovered by the producers in their ageing humidors. The Rican Barber Pole fits perfectly into this series, because it too was produced, stored away but never retrieved.
Two wrappers, a balanced character
The interplay between the two wrappers makes this cigar particularly intriguing. The light Connecticut wrapper brings a creamy, smooth and slightly sweet note, whilst the darker Habano wrapper from Ecuador adds more spice, depth and character. The result is a very harmonious smoke which, with its medium strength, remains pleasantly accessible, whilst its flavour profile—ranging from medium to spicy—clearly goes beyond mere everyday enjoyment. The cigar feels balanced, lively and stylish, without ever becoming too heavy or harsh. It is precisely the Toro format that gives the blend enough space for the flavours to unfold calmly and with a lovely presence.
Creamy smoke with notes of nut, wood and a hint of pepper
In terms of flavour, this Barber Pole impresses with a rounded and very pleasant profile. Nut, wood and earth take centre stage, underpinned by creamy smoke and a subtle natural sweetness. Added to this is a subtle peppery note, which lends the smoke freshness and definition without making it seem sharp. The overall impression remains consistently harmonious and approachable, yet at the same time distinctive enough to linger in the memory. Anyone looking for a visually striking cigar with a creamy smoke, balanced strength and a charming history will find this a particularly delightful discovery.
