Many connoisseurs of this fine indulgence will be familiar with this cigar range, particularly thanks to the distinctive ‘Red Dot’, which makes it instantly recognisable. Any idea what they are? Exactly – these are the Dominican cigars sold in the US under the name of a prominent Cuban cigar brand, as the original Cuban cigars are not available there. In Europe, however, this is not permitted, as the use of well-known Cuban cigar brands is allowed exclusively for products that are actually manufactured in Cuba. Consequently, the Dominican Cohiba Red Dot cigars are sold here under the name Silencio Red Dot cigars.

Silencio Red Dot: Harmony and tradition in the smoking experience

The wrapper of Silencio Red Dot cigars is made from genuine African Cameroon leaf, the binder is made from Indonesian Jember, and the filler tobaccos are Dominican Pilotos, which are stored in so-called tercios (bales of tobacco wrapped in palm leaves). These three Dominican Pilotos guarantee a harmonious smoking experience, ideal for special moments. The flavour is characterised by its multidimensionality, with creamy notes, earthy and woody aromas, and a subtle spiciness dominating.

Relatively good value for money

In the USA, cigars of this blend sold under a different name cost between 15 and 20 US dollars. Given the high prices of original Cohiba cigars from Cuba since summer 2022, this is still comparatively affordable, though already quite pricey for the American market. The vitolas available here are therefore significantly better value for money.
