Vauen Pipe Tobacco: Auenland Broken Flake, 50g tin

Vauen Pipe Tobacco Auenland Broken Flake 50g Tin is a tobacco for anyone who likes it natural, full-bodied and yet pleasantly mild. Inside the tin you’ll find a complex broken flake that’s already been loosened up (‘ready rubbed’) – so you can pack it straight away without having to spend ages rubbing or cutting it first. That’s exactly what makes it so practical: it combines the deep, rounded character of a pressed tobacco with the everyday practicality of a mixture. In terms of flavour, the focus here is not on artificial flavourings, but on the tobacco blend itself: sun-cured Dark Virginia meets spicy Burley, complemented by a hint of smoky Kentucky and a pinch of luxurious Perique. The result is a wonderfully rich, authentic tobacco smoke with an elegant spiciness that really comes into its own during quiet moments – a true ‘evening by the fireside’ tobacco, but without ever becoming heavy or harsh.

Ready Rubbed Broken Flake: cool, mild and reliable

The pressing process creates particularly tight bonds between the tobacco components. This is precisely what gives Auenland Broken Flake its characteristic cool and even burn: the ember remains stable, the smoke is soft and ‘mellow’, and the flavours develop slowly and in a controlled manner. Dark Virginia brings a natural sweetness and a slight bread-and-malt note, whilst Burley adds body and a subtle nuttiness. Kentucky provides a subtle smoky note and greater depth, whilst Perique acts as a spice – with a hint of dark fruit and a delicate peppery edge in the background. The room aroma is often described as very pleasant and unobtrusive, which makes this blend significantly easier to enjoy in company than many strong English blends. Tip: Loosen it up briefly and smoke at a leisurely pace – this keeps it particularly cool and allows the spice to come through most clearly.
