The Villiger Stumpen Original Krumme Junior is a true piece of Swiss tobacco tradition – unmistakable in appearance, full of character in flavour, and a cult product amongst connoisseurs for decades. The Junior version is slightly slimmer, but just as full-flavoured as its big sister, and is perfect for a slightly shorter smoking experience. It is made from delicately spiced tobaccos and is hand-rolled in the old Cuban tradition.

The unusual shape of the Villiger Original Krumme was originally a clever anti-theft measure! In Cuban cigar factories, workers were traditionally given a small allocation of cigars each week for their own use. To prevent workers from secretly stockpiling these cigars, the free cigars were plaited into small braids whilst still damp. As they dried in this braided state, the cigars took on their distinctive, easily recognisable curved shape.

This meant that factory owners could recognise even from a distance: here, a worker is quite legitimately smoking a cigar from his free allocation. If, on the other hand, someone was caught with a straight cigar, he had to brace himself for awkward questions about its origin.

This tradition is still upheld today – and makes the Krumme Junior a charming, historic luxury product.
