How to vent and refill your lighter

1. Empty your lighter every time before refilling it (even when filling it for the first time). To release all the pressure from the tank, press down on the inlet valve using a screwdriver or an XIKAR MTX Multi Tool (shown). Hold the lighter upside down whilst the remaining gas escapes. Repeat the procedure until the tank is completely empty.
2. With the lighter still held upside down, you can continue filling it with fresh gas. Press the gas canister against the inlet valve for 2–3 seconds (until the tank is full). Allow 3–4 minutes to elapse before using the lighter so that the butane reaches room temperature.
3. The size of the flame can now be adjusted as desired.
