Blackened stands for modern premium cigars with a powerful character and distinctive rock ’n’ roll DNA. The brand is a joint venture between James Hetfield of Metallica, BLACKENED Whiskey Master Distiller Rob Dietrich and Drew Estate founder Jonathan Drew Sann. According to Drew Estate, Blackened is based on years of friendship, mutual respect and a commitment to creating expressive cigars with a distinctive style.
The first line, Blackened M81 Maduro to the Core, is the original release in the series and consistently focuses on a dark, intense Maduro character. It combines a Mexican San Andrés Maduro wrapper with a Broadleaf binder from the Connecticut River Valley, as well as filler tobaccos from Nicaragua and the USA. Drew Estate describes the flavour profile as dark, rich and deep, with notes of wood, toast and dark chocolate.
With Blackened S84 Shade to Black, the series has been expanded to include a softer, more velvety interpretation. This second release retains the dark Maduro core of the M81, but features an Ecuador Connecticut Shade wrapper, thus combining creamy elegance with the distinctive depth of the series. Blackened is therefore aimed at aficionados seeking characterful cigars with a modern brand identity, a musical background and a distinctive blend concept.
