Bohemian No. 4 The Negroni 28% 700ml

The NEGRONI is and always will be a classic modern-day aperitif, and naturally hails from the country to which we owe the very concept of aperitif culture. We also owe a debt of gratitude to Fosco Scarselli from Florence. Without the bartender’s chance creation, we would have one fewer classic aperitif cocktail to boast of today. Fortunately, however, around 1920 he served his regular customer an Americano in which he had replaced the soda with gin. The regular, Count Camillo Negroni, was delighted. 

So are we! Since then, the cocktail has steadily grown in popularity and, together with the Martini and the Manhattan, forms the ‘Triple Crown’ of classic cocktails. 

This drink, made with gin, Italian red bitter liqueur and Italian vermouth, is best enjoyed in a tumbler filled with ice cubes, flavoured with orange zest and garnished.

Tasting Notes

Colour: Deep ruby red
Aroma: A seductively mild bouquet with a hint of honey and an echo of herbs, rich in spices, hints of berries, sloes and plums, with notes of dried basil and olive oil
Taste: Velvety smooth, with cherry and rhubarb predominating, hints of juniper and gentian, with a touch of various spices and a hint of oak, wine-like, with a delicate hint of lavender and violets
Finish: a very interesting, long finish of stewed fruit, rose petals and a hint of figs
Overall: full-bodied and intense, with an exciting flavour

Preparation

Pour into a tumbler glass filled with ice cubes and stir well. Add a garnish to the drink. To finish, lightly mist the cocktail with the aroma sprayer.
