This small family business has its origins in northern Italy, more specifically in Friuli, where the ancestors of the founding family had already been trading with distant countries several decades ago.
This laid the foundations for the company’s wide-ranging expertise in trade and export, as well as the global network of which Brun del Ré still benefits today. Carlo Corazza, a descendant of this regionally renowned trading family, embraced this tradition and combined commercial acumen with visionary thinking, resulting in a refined and exceptionally elegant gem within the world of cigar manufacturing.
At a young age, Carlo Corazza, a Swiss national with Italian roots, set off for Costa Rica. He was able to capitalise on the economic conditions there and initially established himself as a reliable figure in the luxury goods industry. He quickly got to know the country and its people, enabling him to forge important contacts and take a step closer to realising his vision of creating one of the first internationally renowned Costa Rican cigar brands.
Now married to a Costa Rican woman and the father of two children, he oversees the continued growth of Brun del Ré from San José/Escazú, always ensuring that quality and customer service remain the top priorities. The secret to this steady growth lies, on the one hand, in the outstanding product and, on the other, in the family’s network of relationships mentioned above.
The Brun del Ré Cigars range comprises three main lines: Brun del Ré Gold, Brun del Ré Colonial and Brun del Ré Premium. The cigars differ mainly in strength. The Brun del Ré 1787 cigars are made entirely from Costa Rican tobacco. They are full-bodied and are intended to evoke the country’s history.
