With a history stretching back over 150 years, Por Larrañaga is one of the oldest Habanos brands and was long considered one of the most significant of all. The brand was founded by Ignacio Larrañaga, who registered it in Havana in 1834. Its fame spread rapidly around the world. They were available in the finest hotels, clubs and restaurants across all five continents. Some even went so far as to say that Por Larrañaga had made the Habano famous. Many stories surround this brand, and the words of Rudyard Kipling, author of *The Jungle Book*, carry a special charm: ‘There is peace in a Larrañaga’.
The extensive range of sizes has also been reduced over the years. However, the popular Montecarlo, Panetela and Petit Corona sizes have remained with us to this day. Their particularly well-balanced tobacco blend is the hallmark of this brand, and the outstanding ageing characteristics make the Petit Coronas from the 50s Cabinet a real gem in any humidor.
