Charatan Pipe Tobacco Curzon Mixture 50g Tin

Charatan Curzon Mixture Pipe Tobacco 50g Tin is a classic ‘Balkan/English’ blend for connoisseurs seeking an authentic tobacco flavour with elegant depth. The blend was developed as a modern alternative to the former Dunhill Durbar Mixture and, according to the description, is aimed particularly at experienced pipe smokers. The smoking experience is balanced and intriguing: a smooth, dark brown smoke that develops slowly, impressing with floral undertones, delicately tart ‘tannin’ notes and a pleasant spiciness. Those who enjoy smoking blends in which Oriental tobacco plays a central role will find here a blend with a very strong character, yet one that remains harmonious – ideal for quiet evenings and moments of mindful enjoyment.

Orient-dominant, spicy and pleasantly rounded

Curzon Mixture combines Virginia, Latakia and Oriental tobaccos into a blend in which the Oriental component is often described as ‘dominant’: this brings an elegant, slightly floral spiciness and a subtle, buttery-sweet character to the profile. Virginia provides the base with its mild sweetness and earthiness, whilst Latakia contributes the typical, gently smoky depth without overpowering the blend. The cut is a ribbon/mixture and is easy to pack. When smoking, it’s best to take it at a leisurely pace: this keeps the smoke cool and silky, and the flavours become darker and more intense as the head develops – culminating in slightly caramelised roasted notes in the final third. The room aroma is distinct but pleasant for fans of English blends: tobly, spicy and smoky with an elegant, mature overall profile.
