Of Royal Descent

Even the seeds were specially selected, germinated and cultivated for this purpose. The genetic heritage and lineage of today’s Royal Release cigars can be traced back to the 2004/2005 harvest, a year characterised by near-perfect growing conditions and ideal rainfall. Selected tobacco plants were harvested separately and taken to the Royal Barn to dry. During his daily inspection visits to the astonishingly simple drying shed, the Davidoff Head Master Blender ensured that the colour, texture, aromas and subsequent burn met the highest standards expected of such a sublime cigar. For eight years, the tobaccos matured to perfection under the Royal Seal, pampered round the clock with ideal temperatures and just the right amount of light and humidity for cigars of regal elegance.

Cultivating Royal Uniqueness

Meticulous craftsmanship characterised the entire development of the Royal Release right through to the cigar-making process, which Davidoff entrusted solely to specially trained cigar rollers. Eight of Davidoff’s finest master rollers drew on their combined knowledge and skill to create a Davidoff cigar the likes of which no one had ever seen, touched or enjoyed before. In total, these eight masters of their craft rolled a good seven million cigars. Each of them has at least 15 years’ professional experience, and their work was subject to strict quality controls that monitored the entire process across more than 170 individual steps. All eight made their own personal contribution to a unique experience of indulgence.

The blend

Every Davidoff Royal Release is in a class of its own. The complex, balanced tobacco blend captivates the senses with an intensity that makes the ordinary pale into insignificance. Royal Release cigars undergo a systematic selection process that goes far beyond the ‘very good’ rating. The unique ‘Aromatica Dominicana’ wrapper gives the cigars their elegant sheen. These wrappers are reserved exclusively for the Davidoff Royal Release Edition and are not used for any other Davidoff cigar. The ‘Habano-Ecuador’ binder envelops a filler blend of various Dominican tobaccos.
