Hydrocase Professional Edition

The HYDROCASE is a battery-powered, electromechanically controlled cigar humidification system that meets the high standards of discerning aficionados in terms of both functionality and aesthetics. It ensures precise humidification of humidors with a capacity of up to 15 litres (approx. 200 cigars). 

The HYDROCASE is an active humidification system that ventilates the air in the humidor at regular intervals whilst measuring the humidity. Depending on the measured humidity, an automatic slide valve opens the evaporation holes and the device releases moisture into the air. 

Every 3.5 hours, the fan in the HYDROCASE starts up and blows air over the water reservoir. This actively blows the humidified air into the humidor whilst simultaneously circulating the air. The HYDROCASE is controlled by a microprocessor. If the lid of the humidor is opened and then closed again, the HYDROCASE immediately humidifies for 30 seconds to compensate for the loss of humidity (provided it is fitted in the humidor lid and the switch is set to D). 

Thanks to its versatile mounting options – in the lid, on the back wall, upright or lying flat – virtually any standard humidor can be retrofitted with the HYDROCASE. An aseptic microporous sponge, specially developed for the HYDROCASE, is used as the water reservoir; it can hold 70ml of water and prevent dripping.

Four different modes

Relative humidity above the set humidity level – convection mode

If the relative humidity in the humidor is above the set humidity level (63–78%), the air is circulated every 3.5 hours without being humidified. This prevents dry spots and pockets of excess moisture within the humidor. ‘Rotating’ the cigars is a thing of the past. The slider closes the four left-hand evaporation vents and simultaneously opens the right-hand air circulation vent.

Relative humidity below the set humidity level – active humidification mode

If the relative humidity is below the set humidity level, the air is passed over a moistened microporous sponge during circulation and the humidified air is then returned to the humidor. The slider opens the four left-hand evaporation vents and simultaneously closes the right-hand recirculation vent.

Additional passive humidification

If, following the active humidification mode, the target humidity in the humidor has not yet been reached, the four left-hand evaporation vents remain open for the next 3.5 hours and moisture is released into the humidor air, in the same way as a passive humidifier. After a further 3.5 hours, the air is ventilated again and the humidity is measured. If the target value has been reached, the unit automatically switches to convection mode. If the set humidity level has not yet been reached, the evaporation vents remain open.

Over-humidification prevented

If, during circulation in convection mode, the relative humidity exceeds the set value, the slide valve is closed (or remains closed) for the next 3.5 hours, so that virtually no base evaporation takes place via the water reservoir and over-humidification is effectively prevented.

Alarm functions

The HYDROCASE alerts you to potential problems with an audible signal once a minute. The pictogram is printed on the inside of the lid.

• Single beep: Battery is low – replace
• Double beep: If the device is mounted in the lid, this alarm sounds if the humidor has been left open for 30 minutes (forgotten to close the lid?)
• 3-beep: The target humidity cannot be reached because the water reservoir is empty – top up with water.
• 4-beep alarm: The sensor is not transmitting a signal. Cause: Battery is completely discharged because it was not replaced in time, or the sensor is faulty. Insert a new battery and restart the device.
