The mythical creature, the griffin, served as the source of inspiration for these exclusive cigars and also adorns the elegant white cigar band. Oettiger/Davidoff produces and distributes these premium cigars, which are also crafted by the renowned Henrik Kelner, the creator of Davidoff. The griffin is the heraldic animal of the Griffin’s Club in Geneva, founded by Bernard Grobet. From 1984 onwards, the cigar enthusiast and club owner had cigars produced exclusively for his club; due to their popularity, these were eventually distributed internationally, beyond Geneva and Switzerland.

Very mild in flavour and recommended as a starter cigar, it is made from three different tobacco varieties and features a typical Connecticut wrapper. The Classic offers mild cigars with very delicate and balanced flavours. All sizes in this range are characterised by a typical herbal flavour with slightly creamy-sweet notes. Superbly crafted and offering excellent draw – typical of all Davidoff products! The filler tobaccos come entirely from the Dominican Republic, are held together by a binder from Peru and finally wrapped in a wrapper from Ecuador. The mild character of this cigar makes it ideal for pairing with lighter, sweetish rums or milder whiskies. When unlit, the cigar imparts a slight bitterness on the lips, combined with subtle earthy and woody aromas. Once lit, this gives way to floral, herbal and moist notes. In the second and third thirds, the Gran Robusto develops increasing complexity and harmony. This vitola is the perfect introduction to the premium segment for mild cigars, for both beginners and experienced smokers.
