.Oettiger/Davidoff produces and distributes these premium cigars, which are also made by the renowned Henrik Kelner, the creator of Davidoff. The Griffon is the heraldic animal of the Griffin's Club in Geneva, which was founded by Bernard Grobet.
From 1984, the cigar lover and club owner had cigars made exclusively for his club, which were eventually distributed internationally beyond Geneva and Switzerland due to their popularity.
Griffin's Classic is one of the best-known brands from the Dominican Republic. Very mild in flavour and recommended as an entry-level cigar, it is made up of three different types of tobacco and has a typical Connecticut wrapper. The Classic offers mild cigars with very fine and balanced flavours. All formats in this series are characterised by a typical herbal taste with slightly creamy-sweet aromas. Excellently crafted and with excellent draw behaviour - typical of all Davidoff products! The filler tobaccos come entirely from the Dominican Republic, are held together by a wrapper from Peru and finally encased in a wrapper from Ecuador. The mild characteristics of this cigar make it ideal for tasting with lighter, sweeter rums or milder whiskies. When unlit, the cigar exudes a slight bitterness on the lips, which is combined with subtle flavours of earth and wood. After lighting up, this changes to floral and herbal, moist notes. In the second and third third, the Gran Robusto develops increasing complexity and harmony. Mild and refined
I had a very pleasant, mild smoke with this cigar.
It is very mild and has delicate, subtle flavours . It’s perfect after a meal with a coffee, rum or even a gin and tonic. It’s definitely keeping its place in the humidor.

Never again!
This cigar was a complete flop. Even lighting it was an absolute nightmare and had to be tried several times. Right from the start, the binder split open in several places along its entire length. The filler was exposed and looked like a m...!
There was no draw at any point, and the roll was so tight that a normal draw wasn’t enough to produce even a glimmer of embers or smoke. The flavour was average. Never again!

My favourite cigar
This rather affordable cigar is certainly on the milder side. However, it is a very aromatic, excellent cigar that is also perfect for smoking in the morning. I would highly recommend it to any beginner, and that goes for all Griffin’s Classic cigars.

Good flavour, aromatic, but perhaps a little too mild
I’d ordered some Griffins Classic Perfectos and some Davidoff Aniversario Short Perfectos from zigarrenversand.ch. In a direct comparison, the Griffins are slightly milder, though still aromatic; however, they seemed a little less balanced than the Davidoff. With the Davidoff, I was unlucky in that two out of three cigars didn’t draw properly, which is very rare with Davidoff products. The Griffin is cheaper and comes from the same ‘group’ as the Davidoff. Therefore, the four Griffin’s Classic Perfectos were a very good buy.
