Since their introduction in 2012, the 2012 by Oscar Connecticut cigars have become a real trademark in the world of cigar lovers. Their success began in the USA, where they were available from 2012. Expansion to the European market has been gradual, with Switzerland having the pleasure of also being able to enjoy these exquisite cigars in 2016.
However, the origins of these cigars go deeper than their mere availability on the market. The original idea behind this line, known as the "Doomsday Cigar", was a fascinating homage to the ancient Mayan calendar that predicted the end of the world on 21 December 2012. This first edition, known as 2012 by Oscar, was presented in a box of 21 cigars. Interestingly, the last cigar in this box was dedicated to the supposed moment of doom as a kind of symbolic gesture. However, as we all know, this downfall never came, and so the original idea of the 21-cigar box had to be adapted. Today, the cigar is offered in a 20-cigar box, but in three different formats to cater to the diverse preferences of cigar connoisseurs.
