Dalmore Cigar Malt Whisky 70cl

The name ‘The Dalmore’ – ‘the great pasture’ – derives from the vast grassy plains of the Black Isle, which lie opposite the distillery on the picturesque shores of the Cromarty Firth, 15 miles north of Inverness. The proximity to the River Alness and the lush, verdant vegetation were ideal for growing barley. Thus, in 1839, Alexander Mathieson founded The Dalmore Distillery. In 1886, the distillery was purchased by the Mackenzie family, whose clan coat of arms features the logo of a stag’s head – a symbol that still adorns every bottle of Dalmore to this day. The coat of arms was bestowed upon the then clan chief by King Alexander some 700 years ago, after he had saved King Alexander from an attacking stag whilst out hunting.

Tasting Notes
Colour: deep Bordeaux red tones paired with a hint of nutty brown
Nose: Sweetish, vinous, strong grape fruit (hinting at the dominant port influences)
Palate: An incredibly intense port influence, fresh aromas of Ruby Port (raspberry, cassis, elderberry and blackberries) paired with rounded woody notes. Long-lasting, dense and oily, with a massive sweetness that simply calls for a second glass!
