Aberlour a'Bunadh Whisky 70cl

The Aberlour distillery was destroyed by fire in the mid-19th century and rebuilt in 1879. A second fire in 1892 caused extensive damage once again. Aberlour was modernised in 1973 following its acquisition by Pernod-Ricard. The current design of the stills, with their very wide bases, dates back to the distillery’s reconstruction in 1898.

A’bunadh (pronounced “a-buun-ach”) is a single malt produced in exactly the same way as whiskies were in the 19th century. Filtered using the traditional methods of that era, “A’bunadh” is a whisky “straight from the cask”. The result is a natural whisky whose richness and aromatic complexity have been fully preserved.
To produce this exceptional single malt, Master Distiller Duglas Cruickshank has selected exclusively oak casks that previously held Olorso sherry. Originally from Spain, these casks are extremely rare and valuable for the maturation of whisky. They lend “Aberlour A’bunadh” its outstanding balance, ruby-coloured lustre and aromatic intensity.
Finally, to preserve the tradition of 19th-century whiskies, “A’bunadh” is presented in a bottle identical to those used by Scottish apothecaries of that era. Back then, the residents of Aberlour would also collect their whisky in these bottles directly from the distillery. Furthermore, the bottle is sealed with wax.

Tasting Notes
Nose: Full-bodied, slightly smoky with hints of ripe apples and a subtle sherry note.
Palate: Intensely fruity, with notes of butter and cream and a syrupy sweetness; smooth, chocolatey and with fresh citrus aromas.
Finish: Long-lasting, warm, smooth and slightly peaty; ending with a hint of honey.
