Aberlour a'Bunadh Whisky 70cl

The Aberlour distillery was destroyed by fire in the middle of the 19th century and rebuilt in 1879. A second fire in 1892 again caused extensive damage. Aberlour was modernised in 1973 following its purchase by the Pernod-Ricard company. The current form of the stills, with their very wide base, dates from the rebuilding of the distillery in 1898.

A'bunadh (pronounced "a-buun-ach") is a single malt produced in the same way as the whiskies of the 19th century. Filtered according to the traditional methods of the era, "A'bunadh" is a whisky "straight from the cask". The result is a natural whisky whose preciousness and aromatic complexity have been fully preserved.
To produce this exceptional single malt, Master Distiller Duglas Cruickshank exclusively selected oak casks in which Olorso sherry was previously stored. Originally from Spain, these casks are very rare and valuable for the maturation of the whisky. They give "Aberlour A'bunadh" its outstanding balance, ruby-coloured sheen and aromatic strength.
Finally, to preserve the tradition of 19th century whiskies, "A'bunadh" is presented in a bottle identical to those used by the Scottish apothecaries of the time. The residents of Aberlour also collected their whisky in these bottles directly from the distillery. It is also sealed with wax.

TastingNotes
Nose: Full, slightly smoky with hints of ripe apples and a fine sherry note.
Palate: Intensely fruity, butter and cream with a syrupy sweetness, soft, chocolaty and with fresh citrus flavours.
Finish: Long-lasting, warm, soft and slightly peaty; finishes with a hint of honey.
