La Gloria Cubana is a little-known gem amongst the Habanos brands. Nevertheless, it has a long history. Founded in 1885, the name clearly reveals the brand’s origins. For over a hundred years, it has enjoyed a small but loyal following amongst experienced cigar connoisseurs. In 1954, the brand was purchased, along with the Bolívar brand, by the Cifuentes family. Production subsequently moved to the Partagás factory, where it is still manufactured today. The La Gloria Cubana brand stands out for its elegant presentation, particularly in the Medaille d’Or range. Unfortunately, the long, slender formats of this range have fallen out of fashion over time, and so today only one format from this brand remains in the range – the Medaille d’Or No. 4.
The blend, composed of filler and wrapper leaves from the Vuelta Abajo tobacco-growing region, is medium-bodied and offers balanced nuances of flavour and aroma.
The cigars are ‘totalmente a mano, tripa larga’ – long-fillers made entirely by hand.
