La Gloria Cubana Turquinos – Origin & Format

This long-filler cigar is crafted entirely by hand in Cuba using tobaccos from the Vuelta Abajo region. The vitola de galera is the ‘Gordito’, measuring 141 mm in length with a ring gauge of 50 (Ø ≈ 19.8 mm). The Turquinos was unveiled at the Festival del Habano XXIII in 2023; since then, it has been available in elegant boxes of 10. The compact, robust ring gauge ensures a generous smoke volume, whilst the length allows ample time for the flavours to unfold at their own pace.

Character & Flavours

Aromatically, the Turquinos offers a mild to medium-bodied profile with a creamy, silky texture. Leading notes of cedarwood and subtle spice form the base, complemented by earthy and leathery accents. As the smoke progresses, roasted nuts, espresso/coffee and a hint of cocoa complement the flavour profile; a subtle natural sweetness rounds off the finish. The result is a harmonious, approachable style without any overpowering sharpness – ideal with espresso or a not-too-sweet, cask-aged rum.

Construction & Smoking Time

The clean, even hand-rolling ensures a reliable draw, a smooth, even burn and a stable, light-grey ash. In practice, the smoking time – depending on the pace of the draw – is around 50 to 70 minutes. The box of 10 is ideal for the humidor and as a gift: classic brand design, a compelling balance of flavours and a performance that delivers pleasure from the first to the last third.
