The Gurkha cigar brand was founded in the 1980s by Kaizad Hansotia, who himself hails from India. The name ‘Gurkha’ derives from the Nepalese soldiers who fought for the British Empire on the Indian subcontinent. These warriors were famous for their curved daggers, which also feature on the Gurkha cigar logo.
As well as its impeccable cigars, Gurkha is also known for its elaborate and exclusive packaging. The cigars are manufactured at the Tamboril cigar factory in the Dominican Republic.
