Revered by experienced cigar connoisseurs for over a decade, the Camacho Corojo features a high-quality fifth-filler wrapper.
The Camacho Corojo tasting experience
The Honduran Corojo tobacco, which runs through all the layers of the Camacho Corojo cigar, is grown and harvested in the picturesque Valle de Jamastrán in Honduras. The cigar has an attractive dark colour with subtle tobacco veins and impresses with its rich, leathery character as well as notes of cedar and earth. A bold experience for fans of stronger cigars.
The Legend
The history of the infamous Corojo spans generations, crosses borders, breaks with convention and makes no compromises – with just one goal: to preserve the unique character of a legendary cigar, the cornerstone of the Camacho brand.
It was the original Corojo leaves that, back in Cuba’s heyday, made Cuban cigars so famous beyond the island’s borders. Corojo tobacco, perfected in the early 1940s by the renowned tobacco farmer Diego Rodriguez, was the result of a cross between the legendary Criollo plant, which had previously been introduced from Mesoamerica, and Indonesian Sumatra tobacco. The result: a bold, robust yet velvety-smooth flavour that quickly became a favourite amongst cigar enthusiasts worldwide. Before long, Cuba became known as THE undisputed producer of this unique cigar. Corojo undoubtedly helped this previously unknown island achieve the fame from which it still draws today. With its unrivalled texture, elasticity and bold, spicy flavour profile, Corojo tobacco became the cigar wrapper of choice for many decades, both in Cuba and beyond its borders. However, there is only one place in the world where you can still find the original Corojo tobacco.
Pairing suggestion
An undiluted whisky with an intense malty aroma will do justice to the rich, leathery character of your cigar.
