What Cigar Aficionado says

" There are few cigars on the market, Cuban or otherwise, that are as sought-after and instantly recognisable as the Cohiba Siglo VI. Since its launch in 2002, the Siglo VI has continued to shine with undeniable star power. At the time, it was the thickest Cohiba in the range. It was also the first cigar to be sold in a glossy, lipstick-style tube with a pop-top lid. This format, known in Cuban cigar factories as a ‘cañonazo’ – or ‘cannon shot’ – was developed exclusively for the Siglo VI. Twenty years on, retailers still struggle to keep this cigar in stock, despite its high price. This Cohiba line, sometimes referred to as the ‘Siglo series’, is officially known as Línea 1492 and is slightly milder than Cohiba’s core range, the Línea Clásica. According to Habanos, two aspects make Cohiba special. Firstly, part of the filler leaf undergoes an additional fermentation period in barrels. Secondly, the tobacco for Cohiba is reportedly harvested from the five best farms in Vuelta Abajo, Cuba’s famous growing region in the western province of Pinar del Río. If Cohiba is Cuba’s flagship brand, then the Siglo VI could very well be Cohiba’s flagship format – and for good reason. This nutty cigar bursts with notes of espresso, brown sugar and dried berries, before finishing with a rich chocolate aftertaste. " Cigar Aficionado, 1 January 2022
