Crowned Heads Juárez Willy Lee Toro

The team at Crownded Heads have teamed up with the (as yet) relatively unknown Tabacalera Pichardo in Esteli, Nicaragua, to develop a more affordable range of cigars. The idea behind this was to create a more affordable alternative to the already established and very popular Jericho Hill cigars. Tabacalera Pichardo is now the fourth cigar factory with which Crownded Heads has collaborated. To date, all Crownded Heads cigars have been produced either at Tabacalera La Alianza S.A., run by Ernesto Perez-Carrillo Jr. in the Dominican Republic, or by My Father Cigars S.A. (Don Pepin Garcia) and Jonathan Drew’s Drew Estate in Nicaragua.

Mild companions

The cigars in this range feature a Mexican San Andrés wrapper, a Sumatra binder from Ecuador, and filler tobaccos from the Dominican Republic and Nicaragua. Charlie Minato, a colleague from the US blog Halfwheel.com, describes the flavour as follows: “Dijon mustard, floral, a hint of onion powder and a touch of crushed peanuts.” Harmonious, with a light natural sweetness and no overpowering peppery or bitter notes, they make for very pleasant, mild companions at any time of day.

Crowned Heads is a relatively young boutique brand, but has since made a very good name for itself in the cigar world. This is largely thanks to Jon Huber and his co-founder Mike Conder, who, with tireless dedication and a unique passion, strive to perfect quality, flavour and consistency. The cigars are manufactured in renowned factories in Nicaragua.
