Crowned Heads Juárez Willy Lee Toro

The guys and girls at Crownded Heads have teamed up with the (still) relatively unknown Tabacalera Pichardo in Esteli, Nicaragua, to develop a more affordable line of cigars. The idea behind this was to create a cheaper alternative to the already established and very popular Jericho Hill cigars, and Tabacalera Pichardo is the fourth tabacalera that Crownded Heads has worked with. To date, all Crownded Heads cigars have been produced either by Ernesto Perez-Carrillo Jr's Tabacalera La Alianza S.A. in the Dominican Republic or by My Father Cigars S.A. (Don Pepin Garcia) and Jonathan Drew's Drew Estate in Nicaragua.

Mild companions

The cigars in this line consist of a Mexican San Andrés wrapper, a Sumatra binder from Ecuador and filler tobaccos from the Dominican Republic and Nicaragua. Charlie Minato, a colleague from the blog Halfwheel.com in the USA, describes the flavour as follows: "Dijon mustard, floral, a little onion powder and some crushed peanuts." Harmonious, with a slight natural sweetness and no prominent pepper or bitter notes, they are very pleasant, mild companions for any time of day.

CrownedHeads is a relatively young boutique brand, but has now made a very good name for itself in the cigar world. This is mainly thanks to Jon Huber and his co-founder Mike Conder, who work tirelessly and with a unique passion for quality, flavour and consistency. The cigars are produced in renowned factories in Nicaragua.
