Davidoff Maduro Robusto

This full-bodied cigar with intense sweet and creamy flavours offers a refined taste experience that is new to Davidoff's range. The sweet and creamy flavours of the Maduro are 40% due to the wrapper leaf alone, which has been fermented for an impressive 16 months. Compared to the leaves of other leaf stages, the Maduro wrapper leaf takes twice as long to ferment, as the perfect leaf for a Maduro cigar comes from the upper part of the plant, where it gets the most sun and is therefore quite thick.
The sweetness of the dark chocolate in the first third and the honey in the second third are the main protagonists of this richly flavoured experience. The addition of roasted nuts in the last third completes this typical Maduro flavour experience.
Davidoff Maduro is available in three popular formats: The larger Toro and Robusto as well as the smaller Short Corona for shorter moments of enjoyment. Each format offers a slightly different flavour journey and provides aficionados with the perfect choice for every occasion.
All cigars have a distinctive black second band with gold-coloured elements and are supplied in an elegant 20 ct wooden box with a loose lid. The satin finish of the box emphasises the super-premium positioning of this beautiful limited release.

The name speaks for itself: Maduro (Spanish "mature", cigar glossary "dark colour") is a wrapper leaf with a thick texture and a dark chocolate colour.
The new Davidoff Maduro is wrapped in a dark Ecuadorian wrapper leaf. It is harvested from the highest leaf grade used by Davidoff, Corte #7.
Only two leaves per plant grow in this leaf stage and can become Maduro wrapper leaves. The leaf is thick and oily and therefore requires more moisture and extremely precise and high temperatures to develop the full potential of the leaf in terms of silkiness and unique flavour to

Sunlight

As the leaf comes from the upper part of the tobacco plant, it receives the most direct sunlight in comparison to the lower leaves . Due to increased photosynthesis, the leaves therefore contain a considerably high proportion of sugar.
This accumulated sugar leads to a thicker texture and a uniform size. Both of these factors make these leaves the ideal maduro wrapper leaves.

16 months

Compared to other leaves, the fermentation time for a maduro wrapper leaf is twice as long. 16 months in the fermentation stack are necessary to develop the majority of the sweet notes of a maduro.
The elaborate process also ensures the darker colour of the leaf. Davidoff refrains from adding external heat sources and works exclusively with the heat naturally generated in the stack. The stacks are turned a total of 12 times (it takes 32 hours to turn an entire Davidoff fermentation stack once ). The tobacco then rests in bales for two years to develop even more flavour.

Sweet and creamy notes of ice wine

This combination emphasises both the sweetness of the cigar and that of the ice wine. The typical notes of honey and dried fruit of a sweet wine are perfectly complemented by the notes of honey, dark chocolate and roasted nuts of the Davidoff Maduro.

Sweet and creamy flavours complemented by Lapsang Souchong tea

This black tea, dry-smoked over a pinewood fire, delights with notes of paprika spice, dried longan and wood smoke. These notes form a pleasant contrast to the flavours of dark chocolate, honey and roasted nuts of the cigar. This heterogeneous pairing is an entertaining symphony for the senses. Tip: Add a little milk to the tea to make it even creamier.

Lapsang Souchong is also used in black tea blends, to achieve a fuller flavour and stronger aroma. It can be blended with an Earl Grey tea, for example.
