DESCRIPTION
The EGM Empyrean Praxedes is a cigar for connoisseurs who appreciate boutique quality and genuine rarity. As part of the Empyrean range – EGM’s flagship series – it is produced in extremely limited numbers and is aimed at aficionados seeking a luxurious smoke with depth. The combination of its pyramid-shaped head, generous ring gauge and elegant presentation makes one thing clear: this is not for everyday use, but a special experience to be savoured in the humidor.
Empyrean – the crowning glory of the EGM portfolio
Empyrean is EGM’s ‘Finest Expression’: aged tobaccos from the fertile Cibao Valley (Dominican Republic), hand-rolled (‘totalmente a mano’) and crafted with a focus on balance, structure and a flawless draw. The range draws inspiration from Greek mythology – ‘Empyros’ roughly translates as ‘in fire’ – and translates this concept into three exclusive vitolas. The Praxedes is particularly sought-after within this range as it is the collection’s only Pirámide shape.
The line’s only Pirámide – more flavour, more ritual
Measuring 145 mm in length with a ring gauge of 57, the Praxedes offers plenty of surface area for an intense, creamy smoke and a noticeably rich bouquet. The Pirámide head shape ensures a delightful smoking ritual: Starting from a narrow draw, the cigar opens up over time, allowing the flavours to develop in a very controlled manner and often with a wealth of nuances. The ‘Medium to Full’ profile specified by the manufacturer makes it ideal for anyone who enjoys complexity without the cigar feeling harsh.
Premium presentation – perfect as a gift or a special treat
Visually, too, the Empyrean Praxedes is in a class of its own: the blue and gold lacquered box of 10 is a hallmark, and each cigar also features a protective foot band bearing the model name. This makes it an excellent gift for discerning cigar enthusiasts – or as a ‘signature smoke’ to be savoured on quiet evenings. Feel free to pair it with espresso, aged rum or a mildly spicy single malt to bring out the roasted aromas and elegant sweetness to their fullest.
Tasting Notes
Cigar exterior: Oily , even, pyramid cap
Cigar interior: Very neatly rolled, sturdy
Smoke: Creamy , slightly sweet, generous smoke volume
Flavour: Delicate cedar and roasted notes open the smoke, accompanied by cocoa and nutty notes. As it develops, subtle spicy nuances emerge, along with a mature tobacco sweetness and an elegant, slightly earthy depth – rounded, luxurious and with a long finish.
Burn: Generally straightforward and reliable; very consistent with a stable ash when smoked gently.
