EGM Maduro Rio

The EGM Maduro Rios is the slimmest vitola in the Línea Maduro range and highlights the interplay between American Broadleaf and Dominican tobaccos with particular clarity. For the first time in this series, EGM has opted for a Pennsylvania Broadleaf Maduro wrapper from the USA, combining it with a binder and filler from the Cibao Valley. As a result, the Rios has a significantly darker and more robust profile than the classic EGM Puros. Dark chocolate, cocoa and espresso meet earthy notes, black pepper and oak. A natural Maduro sweetness lends the smoke balance and ensures that the robust roasted flavours do not come across as too dry.

With a length of 153 mm and a ring gauge of 46, the Rios boasts particularly elegant proportions. The diameter is approximately 18.3 mm. Due to the slimmer ring gauge, the Pennsylvania Broadleaf wrapper has a comparatively pronounced influence on the flavour profile. At the same time, the length of just over six inches allows for a slow and gradual development of flavour. The cigar is made entirely by hand in Santo Domingo. As a long-filler, it offers a classic premium construction with a Dominican filler and a dark-fermented American wrapper.

Dark chocolate, espresso and black pepper

In terms of flavour, the Rios exhibits a dark, roasted profile. Dark chocolate and cocoa form a central foundation, accompanied by espresso and roasted coffee beans. The Dominican tobaccos introduce a distinct earthy note. Black pepper adds a spicy kick, whilst oak provides additional structure. The natural sweetness of the Broadleaf wrapper accompanies the smoke without being overpowering. This creates a balanced blend of sweet, bitter, earthy and spicy notes.

An elegant Maduro experience with focused aromas

Of the three Maduro formats, the Rios is the slimmest and most understated interpretation. Whilst the wider Maximos produces more smoke and sweetness, the Rios presents the individual components in a more concentrated and distinct manner. This makes it particularly suitable for aficionados who prefer slimmer formats and a more precise smoking experience. The profile remains medium-bodied to full-bodied, offering an exciting combination of classic Dominican elegance and dark American broadleaf flavour.
