Flor de Selva
DESCRIPTION
As soon as you open the box, it is immediately clear that these are unique cigars. Every single Flor de Selva cigar has to fulfil the highest quality and enjoyment standards before it is allowed to leave the Maya Selva Cigars factory. Aficionados can expect cigars of the finest quality and exceptional flavour. This is also confirmed by various awards.
Only Honduran tobaccos from the Danli region are used for the filler. The binder comes from Honduras. A Connecticut Shade wrapper rounds off this visual and flavourful delight. The cigars are not overpowering, but offer a full-bodied and aromatic smoke.
Maya - the woman behind the Flor de Selva cigars
With a mother from France and a father from Honduras, Maya grew up in Tegucigalpa and returned to France to study at the age of sixteen. After high school, she trained as an engineer, attended the Ecole Internationale des Sciences du Traitement de l'Information - School of Engineering (EISTI) and completed her education in the United States with a Master of Science degree. Not yet ready to commit to a career, she returned to Honduras in 1991 to explore different opportunities, especially those related to tobacco.
MAYA rolled up her sleeves and spent over a year learning how cigars are made in Danlí, Honduras - from A to Z, she eagerly learnt every single parameter that goes into making a quality cigar.
Her meeting with Nestor Plasencia, a renowned tobacco grower and cigar manufacturer, proved to be decisive. Together with him, Maya Selva defined a series of very strict specifications for the production and quality of her cigars in 1994. And in 1995, the first box bearing the FLOR DE SELVA brand went on sale in France. The new puros quickly found favour with European aficionados. As early as 1997, the Flor de Selva Robusto was labelled a classic by the magazine L'Amateur de Cigare!
