In the world of premium cigars, Gurkha Cigars is synonymous with exquisite presentation and wildly unconventional ideas. To celebrate three decades in business, the Gurkha Treinta was launched in 2019. Once again, the Americans have pulled out all the stops when it comes to the visual appearance. Both the packaging and the band are eye-catchers of the highest quality. But the ‘inner qualities’ are equally impressive. The mild-to-medium blend of the 30th-anniversary range consists of a Rosado Sun-Grown wrapper, the only component sourced from Ecuador. A Corojo 99 binder envelops the filler tobaccos – Criollo 98 and Corojo 99 – from Estelí and Jalapa. All of these, apart from the wrapper, are grown by the Aganorsa Leaf Factory, one of Nicaragua’s largest producers of premium tobacco. This is the first time ever that Gurkha has collaborated with Aganorsa, and the result is impressive across the board – we’ll just say: almonds!
