La Batalla 1762 Robusto

This cigar is dedicated to the Battle of El Castillo Fortress on the River San Juan in 1762. The English sought to raid the fortress and help themselves to the Spaniards’ gold. The daughter of the fortress commander, who had died just a few days before the attack, Rafaela Herrera (then only 19 years old), successfully defended the fortress and, with the third cannon shot, struck down the enemy commander, thus winning the battle. The fortress was repeatedly attacked by pirates, but its thick walls withstood the assaults time and again. But here is the full story:

Battle of El Castillo

The Battle of El Castillo, on the River San Juan in Nicaragua, took place in 1762. An English fleet of 50 ships, carrying a total of 2,000 soldiers and allies, set out to raid and capture the fortress, as it was suspected that the Spanish had stashed gold there.
The 19-year-old daughter of the fortress commander, who had died just 11 days before the attack, successfully defended the Castillo (40x20 metres) with cannons; the third shot struck the enemy commander, thereby securing victory in the battle. The Castillo was repeatedly attacked by pirates, but its 4-metre-thick walls and very sturdy corner towers withstood every assault.
