Origin & Concept
La Bucanera was launched in 2019 and is produced in Granada (Nicaragua) at Casa Favilli / Mombacho Cigars – a project by ADVentura & McKay that focuses on Nicaragua’s terroirs. The nautical aesthetic is combined with very clean workmanship and a reliable draw. La Bucanera has enjoyed great popularity in Europe since its launch; individual vitolas have won multiple awards, underlining the quality of the craftsmanship.
Blend & Formats
Typical of La Bucanera is an Ecuadorian Habano H-2000 wrapper over a Nicaraguan binder and Nicaraguan filler (including Condega, Estelí and Jalapa). The oily wrapper, which often has a Colorado Maduro appearance, ensures density and a pleasantly full-bodied smoking experience.
Flavours & Smoking Experience
On the palate, La Bucanera displays a medium-bodied, very well-rounded profile: cedar and spice open the flavour profile, followed by leather and hazelnut; as the cigar develops, dark chocolate/cocoa and a hint of pepper emerge. The texture remains creamy, the development linear and harmonious – ideal with an espresso, cappuccino or a mild to medium-bodied rum.
