Matilde Serena Maduro Robusto

The Matilde Serena Maduro is a slightly stronger and darker version of the original Matilde Serena. The new Maduro line is characterised by an oily Mexican Maduro wrapper, a Dominican Criollo '98 binder and a filler from Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic. Once lit, the Serena Maduro offers complex and balanced flavours that engage the taste buds on the palate.

A pleasant sweetness is always present throughout the smoking experience and is accompanied by rich aromas ranging from mocha coffee to dried fruit and toast. Experienced aficionados will also recognise notes that are reminiscent of earth, tobacco bearing and leather. The Matilde Serena Maduro is therefore a more aromatic evolution of the Serena line, in which the soul of the milder Serena is still present.

One of the oldest cigar brands in the Dominican Republic

Matilde was founded in Santiago de los Caballeros in 1876 and was one of the first tobacco companies in the Dominican Republic. However, operations were discontinued in the early 1900s. In 2014, the brand was revived by the Seijas family. Its first line, the Matilde Renacer, immediately made it into the top 25 best cigars of 2014 and was awarded 92 points.
