My Father
DESCRIPTION
The My Father Le Bijou 1922 were blended by Don Pepin Garcia in memory of his father, who was born in 1922. Garcia chose a Habano Oscura, also known as Pelo de Oro, which means angel hair, as the wrapper. This tobacco is considered the father of today's Corojo tobacco and originally comes from Cuba. The wrapper leaf gives the cigar a strong flavour and strength, accompanied by a slight sweetness. It burns perfectly with a snow-white ash.
Incidentally, bijou means jewel in French, a fitting name for this cigar! The cigars were honoured with first place in the Top 25 Cigars 2015 and also made it into the Top 25 in 2013.

A well-crafted cigar
The My Father Flor de las Antillas Toro is a well-crafted cigar that boasts a number of positive technical characteristics. However, the tobacco is rolled somewhat tightly, which makes the draw a little too tight for my liking and means you have to pull harder on the cigar. The burn, on the other hand, was very even and the ash pleasantly compact – both aspects that I find technically very appealing. Aromatically, the cigar revealed subtle diesel notes right from the start, accompanied by light hints of pepper and woody aromas. The smoke production was rather light to moderate. In terms of size and feel, I generally like it very much and it sits comfortably in the hand.
Unfortunately, the flavours didn’t quite win me over. They remained too subtle for my taste, lacked depth and seemed somewhat monotonous for long stretches. As a result, I missed the excitement and enjoyment I expect from a cigar. As early as the middle of the second third, I therefore decided to set it aside and let it burn out. Another negative aspect I noticed was what I considered to be a high nicotine content. This gave me a slight headache and, unfortunately, further detracted from the smoking experience.
