For thousands of years, tobacco has been the mediator between gods and humans. Originally, smoking was a privilege of the shamans, the so-called Sukia, from Cabo Camarón in Honduras to the Río Grande in Nicaragua. These "healers" used tobacco leaves for medicine and initiation rites among the indigenous peoples in many parts of the Americas. In their rituals, they communicated with the gods by sniffing or chewing tobacco. They used tobacco to cure illnesses.

A tribute to all indigenous peoples
