DESCRIPTION
The Villiger Edicion Limitada 1888 Nicaragua Gran Reserva Toro is a true masterpiece of the art of cigar making, which impresses with its complexity and balance based on three years of ageing. The exclusive limited edition dates back to 2025 and was produced in a 6 × 54 box-pressed Toro format (152 mm long, 54 rings). Just looking at the dark brown, softly shiny San Andrés wrapper from Mexico opens the senses - it looks flawless and pleasantly soft. Underneath, a fine Ecuadorian Habano binder together with fillers from Nicaragua ensure a carefully composed harmony of flavours.
Aromatic fullness with depth
On the first puff, the Gran Reserva surprises with an exciting combination of rich roasted flavours and subtle sweetness. Notes of roasted coffee and black peppercorns open the journey, complemented by nutty tones and a hint of dark chocolate that runs through the flavour. The fullness unfolds perfectly in the first third: earthy nuances interweave with creamy vegetal notes, coffee beans and hints of pecan lend depth. The retrohale brings peppery spiciness and slightly sweet caramel notes, which make the interplay of flavours exciting and multi-faceted.
Long-lasting, full-bodied finish
The flavour intensifies in the second half: tea-like dryness meets fine cocoa nib powder and spicy cinnamon notes, while roasted espresso tones become more dominant. This balance is maintained until the final phase, in which creamy oak notes and the delicate bitterness of dried bread and tree bark create an elegant depth. The flavour becomes increasingly spicy, the strength increases to a pleasantly round, medium to full-bodied finish. Despite the intense flavours, the balance always remains intact, the strength is in a noble medium plus range - overall a smoky experience with presence and finesse. The slightly flattened box-pressed shape ensures an even draw - the combustion remains clean and neat, the smoke exquisitely glowing and aromatic. Production was strictly limited to 1000 boxes of 10 cigars - a sign of exclusivity and collector's value. This Villiger Toro is a testament to patience and experience, with each individual cigar representing elegance, maturity and an unrivalled sensory experience. Collectors and aficionados who value depth, balance and exclusive quality will savour this Gran Reserva Toro with enthusiasm.
