Don Rolando – A Legend in the World of Premium Cigars
Don Rolando, a legend in the world of premium cigars, ran hand-rolled cigar factories in Havana, the Dominican Republic, Miami and Honduras. His experience in cigar manufacturing dates back to before the Cuban Revolution, when he worked for H. Upmann, Partagas and Romeo y Julietta, amongst others.
The History of the Cuba Aliados Brand
The Cuba Aliados brand was produced in Havana from 1955 until the confiscation of his factory by the Castro government in the early 1960s. Each year, Don Rolando produced almost 6 million hand-rolled cigars under this brand. After emigrating in 1970, he sought growing conditions similar to those in Cuba and eventually found a new home for his brand in Honduras.
The brand’s journey and its current products
The journeys of Reyes and his brand are reflected in the two cigar ranges produced today: a regular range, manufactured by Julio Eiroa in Honduras, and a limited special edition by Ernesto Perez-Carrillo from the Dominican Republic. The 2022 special edition is limited to 10,000 boxes and is characterised by a flawless, five-year-aged Sumatra wrapper from Ecuador.
