Charatan Pipe Tobacco Black Flake 50g tin

Charatan Pipe Tobacco Black Flake 50g Tin is a dark, characterful flake for connoisseurs who love the natural flavour of Virginia tobacco with a spicy, fruity depth. This blend is often cited as a modern successor or replacement for the former ‘Dunhill Dark Flake’ – and the smoking profile follows exactly this line: full-bodied, well-rounded and pleasantly ‘mature’, without any artificial flavouring. The tin contains compact, dark brown flakes that can be enjoyed either in the classic ‘fold & stuff’ style or crumbled. If you let the flake breathe for a few minutes and then smoke it slowly, you’ll be rewarded with a cool, dense smoke and very consistent flavours – perfect for the evening, quiet moments or whenever you fancy a genuine, deep Virginia-style tobacco.

Dark flake delight: sweet tobacco & dried fruit

The blend features selected Virginias, combined with dark air-cured Perique. This combination creates a particularly rich profile: Virginia provides the natural sweetness, a slightly ‘bready’ undertone and warm roasted flavours, whilst Perique contributes depth, a subtle peppery spice and its characteristic dark fruitiness. Many descriptions cite ‘sweet tobacco and dried fruit’ as distinctive notes – and that is exactly how the blend comes across in practice: hints of rose and plum, malty, bready nuances (at times reminiscent of ‘raisin bread’), along with a pleasant, subtle spiciness that never becomes harsh. The smoking experience is remarkably gentle on the palate for a darker Virginia blend: smoked at a leisurely pace, it remains cool, creamy and very consistent in flavour. The room aroma is distinctly tobacco-like, fruity and spicy, and rather ‘connoisseur-oriented’ – not perfumed, but classic and mature. In short: a flake for anyone seeking depth, maturity and a rich Virginia/Perique experience.
