Charatan pipe tobacco Victorian Mixture 50g Tin

Charatan Pipe Tobacco Victorian Mixture 50g Tin is a stylish classic for anyone who loves the authentic taste of tobacco – with a touch of character, just as you’d expect from traditional Virginia/Perique blends. This blend is often cited as a modern alternative for fans of the former Dunhill Elizabethan Mixture and strikes exactly the right note: mature, partly pressed and darkened Virginias form the aromatic base, whilst Louisiana Perique provides depth, spice and the characteristic dark fruit note. In the pipe, Victorian Mixture comes across as ‘prim and proper’: elegant, authentically tobacco-flavoured and remarkably well-rounded – with noticeable complexity, yet without any harsh edges.

Pressed Virginias & Perique: spicy, fruity, wonderfully balanced

The aroma immediately sets the tone: warm Virginia sweetness, accompanied by a piquant, peppery Perique spice and a hint of dark fruit. It is precisely this interplay that makes it so appealing. The pressed, darker Virginia components provide a more mature, fuller flavour profile (often with hints of bread/toast, dark honey or a light roasted cocoa aroma), whilst Perique contributes notes of raisin and plum, along with a subtle ‘tingling’ sharpness. Many descriptions emphasise that the Perique is clearly discernible but not harsh – the blend remains harmonious and gentle on the palate when smoked at a leisurely pace. Depending on the batch, a mild flavouring or very subtle casing is also mentioned (classified as ‘flavoured’ in some shops), which rounds off the blend rather than overpowering it.

The cut is typically a ribbon/mixture, making the tobacco easy to pack and reliable to light. A brief moment of air exposure can – as with many tinned tobaccos – help to keep the glow more stable and bring out the flavours even more clearly. Victorian Mixture is ideal as a premium everyday vape: in the morning with coffee, in the afternoon as a ‘focus’ tobacco, or in the evening when you’re looking for a genuine tobacco-flavoured, spicy-fruity smoke with depth. The room scent remains pleasantly tobacco-like with a fruity, spicy undertone – noticeable but not overpowering.
