Sancho Panza

As with other major Habanos brands, such as Montecristo and Romeo y Julieta, the name Sancho Panza comes from a masterpiece of world literature. Sancho Panza is the loyal squire of the travelling knight Don Quixote in the novel of the same name by Miguel de Cervantes, who is revered as a national poet in Spain. The first part was published in 1605 and is still considered one of the best books in world literature. The name Sancho Panza was first used to describe a Habano in 1848 and the brand has enjoyed an excellent reputation among experienced aficionados ever since. The brand was founded by a German named Emil Ohmstedt, who is also said to have been the midwife of the El Rey del Mundo brand. In the 1950s, Sancho Panza was one of the most popular Habanos brands in Spain. To this day, the cigars are said to have great ageing potential.
Today, the range comprises just two cigars. With their medium-bodied blend of filler and binder leaves from the Vuelta Abajo tobacco-growing zone, all formats are totalmente a mano, tripa larga - long fillers made entirely by hand.
