Vegueros
In the Vuelta Abajo tobacco-growing region, it is a tradition for the vegueros (farmers) to make their own cigars. Visitors to the province of Pinar del Rio are often eager to try these cigars, as the region is known for the world's best tobacco. The Vegueros brand was launched in 1996 in honour of the countless generations of farmers who cultivated tobacco in Pinar del Rio. Today, Vegueros are produced in the Francisco Donatien factory in Pinar del Río. The building was constructed in 1868 and converted into a cigar factory in 1961.
