Angenehmer Smoke
Technisch gibt es bei der Davidoff Escurio Gran Toro kaum etwas zu bemängeln. Abgesehen von einem leichten Schiefbrand, den ich im zweiten Drittel einmal korrigieren musste, war der Abbrand nahezu perfekt. Die Asche fiel beim Abaschen kompakt von der Zigarre ab, der Zugwiderstand war angenehm und das Rauchvolumen lag im mittleren bis hohen Bereich.
Positiv empfand ich auch den eher leichten Nikotingehalt. Die Zigarre wirkt diesbezüglich angenehm zurückhaltend und schlägt weder auf den Kopf noch auf den Magen, wodurch sie sich auch für einen längeren und entspannten Smoke gut eignet.
Wie bereits im Beschrieb angekündigt, zeigt der Rauch eine leicht cremige und süssliche Note. Geschmacklich präsentiert sich die Zigarre mit einer angenehmen Cremigkeit sowie Aromen von Schokolade und Kaffee. Dazu kommt eine interessante, leicht dieselartige Note, die der Zigarre etwas Eigenständigkeit verleiht. Im hinteren Bereich der Zunge waren ausserdem sehr dezente Pfeffernoten wahrnehmbar, die sich angenehm zurückhaltend zeigten und keineswegs störten.
Auch nasal konnte die Escurio überzeugen. Besonders die Cremigkeit sowie die Röstaromen von Kaffee und Kakao liessen sich beim Retrohaling gut wahrnehmen und ergänzten das Aromenspiel sehr schön.
Als Pairing hat mir ein milder und samtiger Rum oder Whisky gut gefallen.
