Matilde Serena Grande

The Serena line from Matilde is characterised by a mild to medium body. This makes this cigar the mildest in the Matilde family. The name Serena means "calm" and "peaceful", emphasising the characteristics of the cigar. The tobacco leaves for the Serena's filler come from the Dominican Republic and Nicaragua, while the tobaccos for the binder come exclusively from the Dominican Republic. The wrapper is a light-coloured Ecuador Connecticut tobacco leaf. The cigar is available in four popular formats at a very attractive price-performance ratio. A perfect cigar for new aficionados or simply to start the day. It will fill the palate with a caramel sweetness, with some woody flavours and coffee notes joining in later. Finally, this cigar has a pleasantly creamy finish.

One of the oldest cigar brands in the Dominican Republic

Matilde was founded in Santiago de los Caballeros in 1876 and was one of the first tobacco companies in the Dominican Republic. However, operations were discontinued in the early 1900s. In 2014, the brand was revived by the Seijas family. Its first line, the Matilde Renacer, immediately made it into the top 25 best cigars of 2014 and was awarded 92 points.
